FRENCH IMMERSION: Kindergarten (ECS) – Grade 6
École Parkdale Elementary is a dual track kindergarten to grade 6 school with instruction in French K-6 and English K-6.
Our French Immersion Program is open to all students residing in the Wetaskiwin Regional Public School Division attendance boundary.
There are several variations of the immersion program with different beginning points and varying amounts of instruction in French and English. École Parkdale operates an early immersion program, with students beginning to study the French language in kindergarten. English Language Arts is introduced in grade three and increased each year until grade six, at which time students receive approximately 85% of their instruction in French and 15% in English.
Our present program enrollement is approximately 100 students.
STEPS program
The STEPS program is intended for elementary students who have the ability to do average or above average work, but whose behaviours limit their current performance in a traditional classroom setting. Students in the STEPS program have been identified with a history of emotional or behaviour difficulties.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The program is a WRPS district program operated out of Ecole Parkdale Elementary School.
Target Population
- 6-12 years of age

Resource Room: Grades 2-4
Resource Room is a program designed for students in grades 2-4 who experience mild to moderate cognitive delays or more significant learning problems. The class is limited to approximately 15 students and is supported by a teacher and a teaching assistant. Students are able to access more supports in their academic classes (Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science) in this environment. This environment also allows students opportunities to develop prosocial lifeskills.
