Parkdale School welcomes smudging every day for students, staff & families. Students learn the Indigenous way of being, by practicing and sharing Indigenous knowledge. Elders come in to the school and share creation stories and assist with ceremonies that take place throughout the school year. Students participate in Beading, making small headdresses, dreamcatchers, sewing, etc. Drumming with the big drum and hand drums happens every other week with the boys, hoop dancing and POW WOW dancing will be every other week alternating with drum lessons. They also are taught basic Cree commands, weekly.
We welcome volunteers to come share with the students, beading, sewing, dancing etc.
