At Parkdale School, we have wonderful students that are willing to get involved. The leadership program consists of students in grade 6,7 and 8. The students have planned a variety of activities this year to build school spirit and to get involved in the community. In October they planned a Junior High Dance and invited the other schools. They sold concession goods and used half of the money to purchase toques and mittens. These toques and mittens were donated to NOW Wetaskiwin with the mittens and toques raised with the Keep People Warm drive they planned. In December they planned and hosted a food bank drive to support our local food bank. In February and March, they have planned a used book drive at the school. Students and families can donate gently used books to the school. Students can bring them to their classroom to earn points for their homeroom, and donations are also being accepted at the office. The donated books will be divided between the school library and classroom libraries. This supports the focus on literacy that the school has.
The student leaders step up all the time and help not only the Parents of Parkdale but all programs and staff at the school without hesitation. They run school assemblies, are ambassadors when we have visitors and are always looking for a way to get involved. We are very proud of all of our students and what they are capable of doing. Keep up the great work.
